Gateway Research Park welcomes international antimicrobial product maker as new tenant

APRIL 23, 2020 - GREENSBORO, NC - Gateway Research Park in Greensboro has a new tenant.

The entrance is appropriate timing wise, as the region and nation continue to battle the spread of Covid-19.

ESC Brands, a Canada-based nano antimicrobial coatings and antiviral technologies company, has opened a research and development location at Gateway Research Park South.

The appeal of the location was multi-faceted for ESC, said its managing director, Bruce Smyth.

“We searched for over a year to identify the right place for our first R&D lab in the U.S.,” Smyth said.

“The outstanding resources at Gateway South provided us with access to outstanding talent, equipment, and other intellectual capital, as well as offering an excellent laboratory space.

ESC products include topical wound ointments, sanitizers and disinfectants as well as surface cleaners.

Interim Director of Gateway Research Park Jim Westmoreland said the park is eager to see more discoveries taking place at its South campus with the arrival of ESC.

The Gateway Launchpad is a unique co-working environment for nano-bio related businesses that require high tech laboratory space. We have another company that started here in a co-working suite and moved to its own larger space in Gateway and we hope ESC will grow here also.”
