Union Square Campus Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony

APRIL 7, 2015 - The Union Square Campus celebrated a significant milestone with a groundbreaking on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 with a ceremonial groundbreaking event.

Representatives from Union Square Campus, Opportunity Greensboro, the City of Greensboro, Cone Health, GTCC, NC A&T State and UNC Greensboro were on hand to discuss the new shared facility that will contain classrooms, labs, and offices for nursing education at every level: 2-year Associates Degree, RN to BSN and accelerated BSN programs, Doctor of Nursing Practice, and continuing education certificate programs.

Gateway University Research Park has been engaged by Union Square Campus, Inc. to perform the necessary administrative services to oversee the financing, development and construction of the approximately 85,000 square foot facility to be built at Arlington and East Lee streets in downtown Greensboro, NC. Gateway will oversee the first phase of development of Union Square Campus, which consists of a training and education facility for healthcare professionals, primarily nursing. Key stakeholders in the project include North Carolina A&T State University, The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Guilford Technical Community College and Cone Health. By housing programs together, these entities can share lab space and equipment at significant cost savings.

Union Square Campus is expected to be completed next summer with an owner occupancy date in June 2016. About 400 people on average are expected to use the building each day once it is completed.
